The Universe Doesn’t Muck About

In response to my previous Blog: “Why I was not in the 2024 TD Art Gallery Paint-In”

An amazing thing happened on Sunday. After I wrote the first draft of my latest blog: “Why I was not in the 2024 TD Art Gallery Paint-In” (I didn’t share the blog publicly until later on that day), a poetry group on Facebook called Poetry lovers shared one of my posts.

The post they shared was not my own poetry nor my own art, however it was in line with the type of content I like to share which includes the art and poetry of others. I share other people’s work as like this poem by Ming D. Lui states, I am pieces of everyone I encounter; of every art piece I see and poem that I read. My art and recovery journey is not about just me. If I’m not using my voice and platform to help lift others up, then to me, I’m failing.

Within 24 hours of them sharing my post, my public followers on Facebook went from 1.2K to 1.9K. My notifications exploded as people were evidently scrolling through my feed to see what other types of content I share.

In my blog I used the analogy of how sometimes when it feels like we’re being pulled back, we’re like an arrow; life is actually getting ready to launch us forward. Clearly, the Universe doesn’t muck about.

Thank you to Poetry Lovers and to the 700+ new global followers. And thank you to everyone who’s joined the conversation on that blog I wrote. I’ll reply to you all individually this afternoon.

Humans are a communal species. We’re in this together. Let’s support each other so we can all reach our greatest potential.

Huge hugs. 🫂🌱☀️🌿🌧️🌻

That’s a great poem. I have been a follower of you for a while. We are the same age. I have severe mental health struggles, as well as severe physical health struggles after a career-ending injury (I was a nurse) and two failed back surgeries later. Living with severe chronic pain and being suicidal all the time has led all of my “friends” to both betray and abandon me (and I am talking ALL of them). I am glad you have so much support as doing it alone is not doable. I am from the mainland and my family is there; they are the only reason I am currently still alive. Not being near them is awful. I am only…
